Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the issues of structural transformations in modern economic systems. The aim of the article is to analyze, systematize, and generalize the existing methodological support for structural changes in the economy. The study examines the features of structural changes in the economy in the context of the transformational development of national economic systems. The article presents the existing methodological approaches to the analysis of the structure of the economy as a fundamental element that defines its functioning and capacity to adapt to external and internal challenges. The article substantiates the need for the systematization of basic principles for analyzing structural transformations to ensure a comprehensive and reliable assessment of modernization processes at various levels of management. A classification of structural changes is presented according to scales, degree of impact, and industry-specific features, and methodological approaches based on the use of intersectoral balance models and macroeconomic analysis tools have been analyzed. It has been revealed that structural changes are a multidimensional and dynamic process that includes the transformation of sectoral, institutional, technological, and spatial components of the economy. In the current study, structural changes in the economy are proposed to be understood as holistic and dynamic transformations in the system of interconnections between industries, sectors, institutions, and territories, accompanied by the regrouping of resources, changes in the proportions of production, consumption, and employment, driven by internal factors (innovation, policy, social priorities) and external influences (globalization, technological shifts, geopolitical challenges) aimed at enhancing the efficiency, adaptability, and resilience of the economic system. The research has revealed fundamental characteristics of structural changes in the economy, including dynamism, interdependence of economic levels, institutional conditioning, adaptability to global challenges, as well as an orientation towards innovative development and social justice. The role of institutional support, State regulation mechanisms, and European integration processes in shaping an efficient strategy for structural reforms has been highlighted.
