Abstract: The article is dedicated to the study of the adaptation of Ukraine’s customs system to European standards in the context of challenges posed by the war and political instability. The aim is to analyze the main aspects of harmonizing customs procedures and legislation in Ukraine with EU norms, as well as to identify directions for improvement. The study is based on a comparative analysis of the Customs Code of the European Union and the Law of Ukraine «On the Customs Tariff of Ukraine», which has allowed for the identification of key problems and possible solutions. As a result, an urgent need for the digitalization and automation of customs processes, the implementation of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) institution, and the necessity for deeper integration of Ukraine into the EU’s single customs territory have been revealed. At the same time, the reform process is accompanied by challenges such as bureaucratic obstacles, a high level of corruption, insufficient qualifications among personnel, and an outdated technical base of customs infrastructure. The practical significance of the work lies in the formulated recommendations for the modernization of customs points, enhancing transparency and efficiency of control, which will contribute to the activation of international trade, improvement of the economic climate, and increase the country’s investment attractiveness. The results of the research hold social value, as the proposed changes will promote a reduction in corruption risks and an improvement in citizens’ welfare. The originality of the work is rooted in considering the current realities of wartime, which significantly affect the process of adapting the customs system to European standards.
