Abstract:
The aim of the article is to enhance the methodological foundations for assessing the level of financial security of an enterprise. The article reviews and summarizes approaches to defining the essence of the concept of «financial security of an enterprise», as well as the principles of managing the financial security of an enterprise. The author characterizes methods for assessing the level of financial security of an enterprise, namely: indicator method; resource-functional method; golden rule of financing method; scoring method. The main problems of assessing the financial security of an enterprise are identified, specifically: there is a lack of a unified approach among scholars regarding the system of indicators for assessing the financial security of an enterprise, as well as the absence of a comprehensive methodology for evaluating the financial security of an enterprise. A methodology for assessing the level of financial security of an enterprise has been proposed based on the determination of an integral indicator, which includes three stages: forming a feature set; choosing a method for standardizing indicators; calculating the integral indicator of the level of financial security of an enterprise. To conduct an integral assessment of the financial security level of the enterprise, the following indicators were identified through expert evaluation: financial result before taxation; net profit (loss) of the enterprise; profitability (unprofitability) of the enterprise’s operational activities; profitability (unprofitability) of the enterprises’ overall activities; non-current assets of the enterprise; current assets of the enterprise; equity of the enterprise; long-term liabilities; current liabilities; and the presence of own working capital. An integral assessment of the financial security level of enterprises was conducted according to the proposed methodology, revealing that large enterprises have a high level of financial security, medium enterprises have a medium level of financial security, and small enterprises have a low level of financial security. It is found that using the integral assessment of the financial security level allows for the development of a future strategy for the enterprise.
