Abstract:
The article is dedicated to the study of the evolutionary development of conceptions and principles of circular economy business models. The article outlines the main stages of transformation of this economic paradigm – from initial approaches based on the 3R conception (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to extended 5R, 7R, and 9R models that encompass a deeper level of resource efficiency and sustainable development. The aim of the article is to analyze the evolutionary development of conceptions and principles of circular economy business models, to define the main stages of their formation, as well as to explore the impact of the expansion of the conception from 3R to 9R on the formation of modern approaches to resource management. In particular, the research is aimed at identifying the key stages of the transformation of the circular economy – from the basic principles of waste utilization to comprehensive business models that encompass the entire product life cycle; analyzing the expansion of the 3R conception to 9R and its impact on resource use efficiency, reduction of environmental burdens, and the formation of sustainable business strategies; evaluating the implementation of the circular economy in the business models of enterprises and identifying key barriers and opportunities for further development. The results of the carried out research will contribute to a deeper understanding of the circular economy not only as a theoretical conception but as a practical and strategic approach that allows for the optimization of resource use and the formation of effective and sustainable business models. Through a comprehensive analysis of the evolution of the circular economy from the basic 3R principles (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) to the expanded 5R, 7R, and 9R models, it becomes evident that modern enterprises and national economies are increasingly transitioning to closed production cycles, which reduce the burden on the environment and enhance the efficiency of material use. Moreover, the results obtained help to unveil the potential of the circular economy for businesses, as its principles open up new opportunities for cost savings, increased competitiveness, and the creation of innovative products and services. The adoption of circular business models enables companies to adapt to contemporary challenges, including the scarcity of natural resources, growing environmental constraints, and the demands of international markets for sustainable production.

Keywords: conception, business model, evolution, circular economy, sustainable development, resource efficiency.
